The NEC elections will open next week for all members to vote in. This is the most senior body in the Union. Please see the below message from the Greater London Regional Secretary (all Barnardo’s staff belong to Greater London as we are a national branch). The ballot will be posted to your registered address.
Message from Regional Secretary
As we emerge from the latest lockdown, I want to say a big thank you for the heroic work you have undertaken during this past year. We all know that it is public service workers like yourself, that have got London through the worst crisis in living history. However, undertaking your job, whether it’s on the frontline or working from home, on top of supporting your members at work has been incredible. Your contribution is so valued by the union, thank you.
We are growing as a union, the region has grown by over 5,000 members since the pandemic started and that has been because of how we responded to the crisis and supported our members throughout – but it’s important that all of our members, new & longstanding, understand how they can participate in their union.
The NEC is the most senior elected body in UNISON, that has the responsibility for implementing UNISON policy and delivering on the union’s objectives and priorities on behalf of all members; so it is important ALL members have their say in who sits on the NEC to represent them for the next two years.
The ballot to elect the NEC for the next two-year term opens next week and I’m asking all activists to speak with their members and remind them why it’s important they complete the ballot papers and vote. Every member will receive their ballot papers to their home address and will be able to vote for the Greater London Regional seats, service group seats and the equality seats.
