Many of our members have belonged to UNISON for many years. They pay their subscriptions monthly and rarely have to contact us, but we are there if we are needed. Many new members try to join UNISON only when they are suddenly under threat of greivance, redundnacy etc.
UNISON rules state: UNISON requires a member to have 4 weeks of membership before becoming entitled to free legal support and other benefits. This is part to prevent people only joining when they are already in difficulty. This means that you cannot access the full UNISON service until after 4 weeks have passed.. So we will be unable to represent you at disciplinaries or advise during redundancies or any historic issues if you have only just joined!
The moral is: you cant't insure your house when it is already on fire! So join now, before you need our help and advice because otherwise it may be to late
