Barnardo's and UNISON

As a consequence of Barnardo's formally recognising UNISON for collective bargaining purposes it is committed to communicating, consulting and negotiating with UNISON on a full range of issues.

The details are set out in the Recognition Agreement, which is available on Bart Essentials/for and about staff/You Decided / UNISON Recognition, or via your line manager or HR section.

Although trade union membership is not a condition of employment, Barnardo's will be supportive of UNISON promoting the benefits of membership and encouraging eligible staff to belong to the Union.

Staff wishing to join UNISON, or find out more about membership, should contact Bob Woods, UNISON Branch Secretary, by telephoning the UNISON branch line  on 0870 609 3342, or by email to Unison@barnardos.org.uk.

Notwithstanding Barnardo's encouragement of individuals to join UNISON, Barnardo's recognises their right to join any union of their choice, or no union.
