The Freedom of Information (FoI) Act introduces a general right of access to information held by or on behalf of public authorities.

There are two acts to note:

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the UK act)

the slightly better Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 covers over 100,000 public authorities in the UK
