It is a legal requirement to notify the Secretary of State of any proposals detailing 20 or more redundancies occurring at the same establishment (where redundancies are occurring at different establishments notification is not required, unless there are more than 20 at one of the individual establishments). The relevant HRM will ensure the appropriate process is undertaken. The notification times are the same as the time limits for consultation.
