When faced with organisational change that results in proposals to make redundancies Barnardo's will:
Ensure there is a robust business case for the proposals.
Consult, as soon as reasonably practicable, with staff representatives and employees to seek ways to avoid dismissals, reduce the numbers to be dismissed and/or ways of mitigating the consequences of the proposed redundancies.
Seek to redeploy staff wherever possible, giving staff affected by redundancy priority over other staff who are not at risk of redundancy or being redeployed under the Disability Discrimination Act.
Handle redundancies in accordance with good practice and employment law, in the most fair, consistent and sympathetic manner possible.
Provide reasonable support to staff under notice of redundancy.
