There may be occasions when the probationary period does not go smoothly for a number of reasons and these should be dealt with as follows:
Extended absence of staff member, e.g. due to sickness absence or maternity leave - see 4.1 Suspension of the Probationary Period for guidance.
Underperformance of staff member ? see 4.2 Extension of the Probationary Period for guidance.
Continued underperformance of staff member ? see 4.3 Non-confirmation in Post for guidance.
