What is a reasonable request to be accompanied ?

The request to be accompanied does not have to be in writing, but the law says that it must be ?reasonable?. The ACAS Code does not define ?reasonable?, however it suggests that it would not be reasonable:

1. to insist on a companion whose presence would prejudice the hearing or who might have a conflict of interest;

2 to choose a companion from a geographically remote location, when someone suitably qualified was available on site.
